It was confirmed this afternoon that the Golden Lions has released u/19 star Kwagga van Niekerk to join a Scotland training camp for the 2019 u/20 Six Nations Championship and a possible 2019 u/20 World Championship to be played in Argentina.
Kwagga will join the Scotland training camp that runs from the 1st until the 11th of December 2018 whereafter a final decision will be made regarding his future in Scotland.
Kwagga's omission from the u/19 Assesment Squad currently in training at Stellenbosch more than raised a few eyebrows in South Africa as he is known as one of the "hard men" in the u/19 Currie Cup this year. Kwagga was part of the SA Schools team in 2017 and represented the Lions in all the underage youth tournaments.
Kwagga was also Ruggas.co.za's Rugby Player of the Year after an impressive recovery from a serious injury that threatened to end his rugby playing career at the beginning of the 2017 season, that ended in him being one of the stars in the U/19 International Series representing the SA Schools team.
